It’s been an amazing day at the International Dyslexia Association Conference. The new cognitive neuroscience in research on dyslexia is stunning.

Guess what, science shows that if you have a child with a high IQ and they are a good reader, but there is a discrepancy – well, it’s dyslexia! (Not just Pam screaming it from the rooftops!) The ultimate validation was looking at brain imaging that shows that reading is not predictive of dyslexia. The best question that remains is not to be found in testing, but in the common sense question:

Do you have a bright child who is struggling in unexpected ways?

If so, it can be dyslexia.
